Schedule is subject to change. Trainees will be given advance notice of any changes. Attendance at five Aquarian sadhanas (early morning practices) is required for certification. (Via Zoom.) There may be some possible in-person classes with local trainees on select dates. All Trainees will have access to the Trainers and all instruction, regardless of location. All precautions will be observed to protect participants’ health and safety.


Experiential, interactive coursework provides a solid foundation in the theory and practice of the sacred science of Kundalini Yoga:

  • Yogic philosophy and the origins of Kundalini Yoga

  • Subtle Anatomy, the Chakras, Ten Bodies and Mudra

  • Western Anatomy, to understand the body systems

  • In depth teaching and practice of postures and kriyas

  • Theory & practice of mantra, and sacred sound

  • Yogic lifestyle, Sattvic diet, Ayurveda & Sadhana

  • Developing and maintaining a daily yogic practice

  • Ethics and roles and responsibilities of a Kundalini Yoga teacher

  • Diversity and inclusion

Earn the credentials and Serve others

The program combines 180 Virtual classroom hours with 40 hours of home study and fulfills the requirements for Level One certification by the Kundalini Research Institute (KRI) and membership in the International Kundalini Yoga Teachers Association (IKYTA). A one-year associate membership in IKYTA is included in the course fee. Graduates meet the requirements for registration by Yoga Alliance at the 200 hour level. Spirit Rising Yoga is a Registered Yoga School with Yoga Alliance, in affiliation with the Kundalini Research Institute’s Aquarian Teacher Academy.

Our Unique Mentor Program

Each trainee is matched with a mentor that has graduated from a previous training at Spirit Rising or other KRI certified program. This is a unique component of this training that many trainees have credited with enriching their course experience. The Mentors are available to assist Trainees in their Practice Teaching, participate in Morning Sadhana practices and provide extra information and support.

Course materials

Trainees receive the newly revised KRI Level 1 Teacher Training Textbook and Manual, which are invaluable reference tools for learning and teaching Kundalini Yoga; and links to instructional videos for improving the technical details of Kundalini Yoga practices. The Trainers also provide valuable personal handouts and other materials to enhance the overall learning experience.

Certification Requirements:

~ Entrance Interview
~ Full participation in class sessions
~ Completion of written, reading and practice home assignments
~ Attendance of 20 Kundalini Yoga classes, taught by KRI approved teachers, outside of Training (in person or online)
~ Creation of two course curricula
~ Passing grade on the written final exam
~ One day of White Tantric Yoga or equivalent
~ Completion of a 5 Aquarian Group Sadhanas
~ Understand and sign the Code of Professional Standards
~ Satisfactory completion of teaching practicum
~ Exit Interview with Trainers

Your Teacher Trainers

S.S. Shiva Singh Khalsa, E-RYT 500, YACEP, Mentoring Lead Trainer

An experienced Mentoring Lead Teacher Trainer, one of 3HO’s earliest teachers, he has practiced and taught since 1972, and is Training Director of Spirit Rising Yoga. He is a Jupiter teacher; jovial, expansive, and uplifting. Through engaging and inspiring stories, he brings alive his decades with the 3HO community. He is an expert on the Gong, Sound and Mantra, Meditation and Yogic Lifestyle, Chair Yoga and Yoga for those with cognitive or physical limitations.

Shabad Kaur Khalsa, LCPC, LMFT, E-RYT 500, C-IAYT, Lead Trainer

Internationally known and beloved, she brings 30+ years of yogic lifestyle to impart wisdom regarding the teachings, especially on women and Humanology (applied psychology from a yogic perspective). Shabad Kaur transcribed many of the Women’s Camps lectures and illustrated several Kundalini Yoga publications which gives her a depth of understanding of women’s teachings. It has been said of her; “She is not just a person; she is a force.”


Puranpreet Kaur E-RYT 500, Lead Trainer, Course Administrator

Deeply awakened and transformed through Kundalini Yoga, Puranpreet Kaur shares the teachings with a tremendous passion and clarity. She walks the talk – you will be inspired! A multi-talented teacher, Puranpreet Kaur is our Training’s Postures expert. A professional musician, her greatest joy is sharing her music so the Sacred Sound Current can touch other’s lives.

Vedya Amrita Kaur Bethel, Professional Trainer

A Kundalini Yoga teacher for over 15 years. She is an advocate for fostering diverse and inclusive environments in yoga. She provides teachers-in-training with enhanced competencies, skills and leadership in supporting diversity within teaching.
