Sat Avtar Kaur

In (2006-2007), I found Kundalini Yoga but, I could not find a list of the mantras, or how to say them, no teacher could ever have answered all my questions. I made notes of everything I found on Kundalini Yoga. FILE NAME

After months of taking notes and bookmarking websites, my 10 year old mac computer started erasing my typing and I could not stop it. So I moved all my notes to a free website, a wiki and closed it to the public. I started to organize my notes. And, I brought a new Mac computer. Since, I use to work for scientist with documents of 350 pages or more, I had no problems doing that.

The problems, I did have, were the many different ways some of the mantras are spelled, finding parts of a mantra. Trying to find something in a book, that I had, meant going through each book looking, page by page. Most of the books did not have indexes or a Table of Contents, what a kriya or mantra could do for a person was in a tiny little paragraph on each page.

So I would sit there re-reading my books, searching and searching. When I saw, that others on the Kundalini Yoga Yahoo email group, were asking the same questions as me, I opened my site to them and the public. I've been up running every since.

I bought the Kundalini Yoga Teachers Training manual in 2007 and read it almost in one day over 350 pages. I could not put it down, it gave me the background, I needed to know. I could see where Kundalini Yoga could bring my body back and give me health, again. Without a teachers guidance, it is difficult to know what to do, all the time. However, there is now, enough online classes, to make do for a while.

Until 1969, Kundalini Yoga was a secret. It was handed down by becoming a student of a teacher, in India. Yogi Bhajan started learning yoga at age 6 and became a master of Kundalini Yoga at age 16-1/2. He came to the west, in 1969, and began to teach it. He didn't know if he would be allowed to do this, but he felt that the time was right.

Right now, I am listening to one mantra, over and over (I just love it), I leave it playing on my computer (day and night) because the vibration, the frequency of the words and the language sets a good tone for the house. I cannot get enough of listening to it. It is Snatam Kaur singing "Ra Ma Da Sa, Sa Say So Hung". Yogi Bhajan said this is the most powerful healing mantra he taught. When you want to heal yourself or another, this is the mantra to use.

After taking Kundalini Yoga classes for about 2 months, I sent for my spiritual name, Sat Avtar Kuar. Sat means Truth, the eternal truth, the truth that never dies and that is unchanging. Avtar means incarnation, taking birth and manifesting. Kaur means Gods Princess, the Divine Lioness, who walks throughout her life with grace and courage. Kaur is a name that Yogi Bhajan gave to all women. He taught that every woman has the potential to attain a true state of grace and courage, and he encouraged each woman to manifest that potential. By using your spiritual name, you bring your life together and your destiny closer.

As Yogi Bhajan loved to say: Just be YOU. Not worrying about trying to be something or someone you are not, just relaxing into who you truly are.

My background:

In the 1950's, there was one yoga book in the Public Library, I am the only person that ever read it. In the mid 1960's, I jumped out of airplanes for fun, before the fancy chutes came out. In the 1970's, I studied at a Fourth Way School in Santa Monica, CA. run by Thane of Hawaii, aka Kenneth Walker (a student of G. I. Gurdjieff ). We studied Ontology which is the Science of Being. The I AM is not a Higher Self for the individual but rather a recognition of the ONE SELF which is the Infinite Consciousness which has been called by many names: I AM THAT I AM, YHWH, Yahweh, Jehovah, Lord, God, the Eternal One, He, He Is That He Is, Higher Self, Divine Mind, Infinite Mind, Consciousness, Being, Supreme Being, One, and so on.

What I also began learning was that no matter what information you were presented with, or who gave it to you, even a teacher, it was up to you to prove it to yourself, before accepting it, no matter who wrote it or who says it. That means not making an assumption, that that you really heard what a person says or understood what they wrote. So you ask questions, until you clairfy it.

One needs to recognize that everything, that they encounter is their own consciousness out picturing around them. And everything is our own interpretation of it, our perception of it. We are all mirrors of each other. If you have people and places in your life that you don't like, well, it is your perception of what is going on, that you are dealing with. It is happening only within your mind. Change your perceptions of what is happening to you and your world will change. In Kundalini Yoga, I learned and use every day, Kirtan Kriya. It settles the mind, and seems to place whatever - emotions- situations - memories - in perspective where they can do no harm and even seems to refile, them forever. It is a wonderful technique and very freeing.

In the 1980's, I took a workshop in healing energy called MariEL , (Mari for the name of Mary and EL the name of God). That plus my own natural abilities allowed me to offer healing energy to people. About 1985 or so, I a had a 'peak' spiritual experience and felt the crown of my head blow open and energy shot out the top of my head. I could feel heat pouring out of the palms of my hands. I had visions and incredible dreams waking and sleeping. I thought it was a Kundalini Energy experience, but I was not sure. There were no books, no internet to look things up on. I did not know what do or how to maintain the connection with the Devine. I had this incredible feeling of bliss and love that I could access at that time and I felt that life would be worthwhile if I could visit that place every day, but I did not know how to maintain the state of mind, the connection. And, I lost all, I felt it leaving me and I could do nothing.

In the 1990's, I studied Shamanism, I walked across hot burning coals and became a Firewalker. I also became a Reiki Master in the Usui system. At the end of 2006, I found Kundalini Yoga. I was reading Eckhart Tolle's, 2 books and Wayne Dyer's "the Power of Intention". It all fits in.

I love Kundalini Yoga, the health and wellness that one can achieve through practicing this technology is fabulous. You can rebuild yourself mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically. You can change your life totally, if you want to.

I work on this site every day, cross-referrencing Kundalini Yoga information. There will always be something to add in and something new to do.

Blessings,

Sat Avtar Kaur
